What do you do at Tinker Capital?

I am a Certified Financial Planner Professional (CFP®) and an Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF®) committed to helping you make financial decisions in your best interest.

What are your credentials/past experience, for working in your position?

I have prepared individual tax returns and analyzed telecommunication semiconductor companies during the dot com boom (1990s) and bust (turn of the millennium). I have my Life Insurance license and CFP® & Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF®) certifications and have given clients financial, Medicare, & Social Security advice for nearly 25 years.

What’s your background?

As a Los Angeleno native, I have lived a very active lifestyle from an early age finding ways to leverage my upbringing, education, experience and good fortune to help you. I loved life as a student graduating from Loyola High School of Los Angeles and UCLA earning a BA in Social Psychology with a business emphasis. Learning and helping others promote growth & development for a more enriched life. I had an opportunity to work for Banc of America Securities as a Telecommunication Semiconductor Analyst in San Francisco before moving back to LA to join my father’s tax practice and provide his clients and others honest financial advice.

What are the Tinker Capital Core Values that drive you?

I started Tinker Capital Management with total wellness and client-focused integrity in mind. You have earned the right to work with a knowledgeable, experienced advisor interested in helping you create a routine of healthy habits for your overall well-being.

Favorite quotes:

“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.” - Aristotle

“That person who helps others simply because it should or must be done, and because it is the right thing to do, is indeed without a doubt a real superhero.”

"Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse"

What are two interesting facts about you?

I run… I meditate… I run to meditate–breathe to live; live to breath. Breathe in rhythmic cadence while running to relax: in-in, out-out; in-in, out-out; 1-2, 1-2; 1-2, 1-2…

What is something [people in your industry/niche] have to deal with that you want to fix?

Why do some people think a friend should not be your financial advisor? If your financial advisor isn’t already your friend, you should find ways for him/her to become one. At the same time, you should ask yourself an important question. "Is your financial advisor also your friend or is he/she your financial advisor because they are your friend?”

What do you like about working at Tinker Capital?

Tinker Capital encourages me to offer you the help you need and want, not the help I want to give you. I have structured autonomy to facilitate the process of finding the most suitable financial solutions for you to accomplish your goals and objectives. I feel trusted to make the right decisions for the right reasons. Tinker Capital promotes a life / work balance and permits the necessary flexibility for each of us to pursue the wellness we also encourage for you.

Your top three favorite Podcasts/Books?

The 3 books / podcasts that have had a significant impact on my life are "Outlive"–Peter Attia; "Outliers"-Malcolm Gladwell; and Ted Talks – so many of these are so great. Here is a favorite of mine by Simon Sinek.

What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?

Spending time with family and friends, preferably watching or playing sports.

What do you do at Tinker Capital?

As a Senior Associate at Tinker Capital, I wear many hats!  I work with clients on all service-related items including gathering information to establish new accounts, transferring assets, distributing requested amounts and IRS Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs) as well as overseeing our internal compliance.  Brian and I work closely with clients to provide them with the best service possible.  Through our conversations and reviews, we help clients define what they want and need which gives us a better understanding of how to help them.

What are your credentials/past experience, for working in your position?

I earned a BA from Woodbury University with an emphasis on finance.  In addition, I hold multiple securities licenses and have achieved the designation of Financial Planning Qualified Professional (FPQP®), which helps provide the knowledge to navigate the changing financial environment.

I have always enjoyed working with numbers and began my career in residential lending working for a mortgage company when I was in high school.  As a loan officer and now a Senior Associate, I enjoy the process of getting to know clients and in doing so, I have helped them uncover additional assets and income sources that have been forgotten.

What’s your background?

I grew up in La Canada where we had dogs, cats, horses, chickens, rabbits and even a donkey! In addition to learning how to take care of our animals, I also learned the value of hard work and spent a great deal of time working in the vegetable and flower gardens.

I stayed in residential lending until 1999, when I transitioned to financial planning where I could use my education and knowledge more fully to help Tinker Capital clients navigate the changing financial environment.

I have volunteered in villages in both Ecuador and Kenya and for many years I have been a weekly volunteer at Huntington Hospital in Pasadena, CA.

What is the main value that drives you?

I love and care about people and the opportunity to get to know them I’ve found the best way to learn about someone is thru helping others and being of service which are my core values. I got; I gave. I give; I get.

What are your favorite quotes?

“No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.” ~ Aesop

“Be the change you want to see in the world.” ~ Gandhi paraphrase

What is something about the financial that you want to change?

I want clients to know that they don't have to be rich to seek help from a money manager. The joy for me comes from helping clients grow and improve their financial situations, no matter where they are when we first meet.

What are your favorite three books or podcasts?

I am mostly drawn to mysteries and trying to figure out who did it. I also really enjoy books that you see what the author is describing.

What do you enjoy doing outside of the office?

Reading, gardening, walking/hiking, being outside, any form of exercise. Also traveling and exploring new places!

What do you do at Tinker Capital?

I am a Senior Strategist helping to oversee portfolios to make sure that clients are appropriately allocated as markets shift trends across the business cycle and over long stretches of time. The myth that ‘Buying and Holding’ stocks is an appropriate solution for all investors at all times.
